Major Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water supplies, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and implementing penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the city experienced significant strikes during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes follow evenings of aerial attacks in the region, parts of which are occupied by invading troops.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

He said energy workers and authorities were preparing for more assaults.
