Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior official said the attack made him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
